About

Ten years building platforms. Seven leading the people who build them.

I lead engineering teams and I still write code — not to compete with my engineers, but to stay grounded in the systems I am accountable for.

At Clarivate I lead a 15-engineer team across an 8+ application content and video platform, built from two people up. The work has been modernization and operational excellence: a message-broker re-architecture with zero data loss, an 83% reduction in critical incidents, 66 GB of database reclaimed, and observability that cut issue detection from three weeks to two days.

Outside that, I design and operate applied AI systems: a 47-microservice video pipeline on AWS with twelve LLM providers behind capability-split fallback chains, an autonomous producer that runs unsupervised and acts as its own quality judge, and a layered evaluation system for output that has no single correct answer.

The connective tissue is documentation. Architecture decision records with the alternatives I rejected and why. A gaps register that separates the code exists from this has actually been demonstrated. Postmortems for the failures worth remembering — including a two-month silent outage caused by a hardcoded provider, which is the most useful bug I have ever shipped.
